Regular meetings are being held every second Saturday in the Church from 9.30 AM to 11 AM after Second Saturday Holy Communion service. SCF currently has 136 registered members. All our Salem Senior Citizens are welcome to join and be a part of our fellowship activities and be blessed. We regularly arrange different programmes in our meetings for the benefit of our Seniors. Meditation and breathing exercise session was conducted by Rev. Boby Philip followed by the ‘Enjoy Laughing’, a regular feature of SCF meetings. Solo Singing was rendered by members Mrs. Cisy Varghese and Mrs. Mary George who are part of Salem SCF meetings. SCF organized Health Awareness programmes in the April meeting when Dr. Mishal Abdul Rahim and officials from Aster Medcity Hospital introduced and explained Doctor@Home project to provide healthcare for senior citizens as and when needed. Mr. C. U. Davy’s ‘Pazhanchollukal Revisited’ was well received by the SCF members.
The Annual General Meeting of the Salem SCF was held on 13th April and unanimously elected the office bearers for the year 2024-25. The Annual Report for 2023-24 was approved in the meeting. Audited Accounts for 2023-24 and Budget for 2024-25 were passed. A team led by Director Mr. Philip K. John of Travancore Foundation gave a presentation on their ‘Transitional Care Centre’s - post hospitalisation care providers and their services through ‘Presidency Homes’ at Ernakulam. The session in May had an activity through a game sessions of ‘Bingo’ using cards which was conducted by Mrs. Susy John and assisted by Mrs. Saramma
Chacko.
The June programme had an interesting activity session ‘Gana Konsa’ led by Rev Jabin Daniel and Anila Kochamma. The first part of an informative demonstration exercise on ‘Yoga and Happiness’ was introduced by Mr.P. C.Abraham.
The SCF choir assists in the 2nd Saturday Morning Holy Communion Service being held for Our Seniors.
Centre Meeting of SCF Ernakulam Centre
Salem MTC hosted the Annual General Meeting - Centre Meeting - SCF Ernakulam Centre on 5th June, 2024. Over 250 members from different Mar Thoma parishes of Ernakulam Centre participated. SCF of Salem MTC had maximum representation of 86 members attending and assisting in the meeting. God Almighty helped all of us for the smooth conduct and organisation of the Centre meeting in Salem MTC. The message of Rev A.T. Zachariah was very appropriate and encouraging for the senior citizens.
Good number of interesting programmes are planned for the July to December 2024 sessions. All Senior Citizens of the parish are invited to attend these sessions.
